General Product Description:

ProTrans Protein Delivery Reagent is a unique cationic lipid mixture which allows for direct intracellular delivery of proteins, peptides, antibodies and other biologically active molecules. It is the first and only lipid-based protein delivery system that efficiently transports functional proteins into living cells. The complex formed is a unique cationic lipid mixture that interacts non-covalently with the protein and does not interfere with the protein´s biological activity. With ProTrans, proteins of interest become directly available for a variety of cellular processes. This is especially useful for difficult-to-transfect genes of interest. ProTrans makes studying protein functionality faster and easier than ever before by bypassing the traditional DNA transfection, transcription and protein translation processes. For maximum convenience, ProTrans reagent is available in the ready-to-use QuikEase format.
Once the positively charged ProTrans/protein complexes are applied to cells, they attach to the negatively charged cell surface. The ProTrans reagent fuses directly with the plasma membrane and the captured protein is internalized into the cell, or alternatively, the ProTrans/protein complexes are endocytosed and fuse with the endosome, releasing the captured protein into the cytoplasm.
Because of its simple delivery mechanism and because there is no fusion partner or covalent bond formation, ProTrans can efficiently deliver functionally active proteins into a wide range of cell types.
